Brittany Mahomes to be Honored for Advancing Women’s Leadership and Opportunity at Champions for Change Event
Brittany Mahomes will take the stage at Champions for Change as part of a powerful celebration and conversation on how culture, capital, and influence shape economic opportunity for women—and fuel growth for all—hosted by United WE.
(KANSAS CITY, MO) – In its 35th year, United WE, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing women's economic and civic leadership, is proud to announce Brittany Mahomes as the inaugural recipient of the Champion for Change Award for its Champions for Change event. The hybrid event is taking place at CPKC Stadium, Home of Kansas City Current, and will be livestreamed nationwide on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 7:30 – 9:30 AM (formal programming to begin at 8:30 am).
“The spaces and systems we build determine not just who participates in our economy — but how strong it becomes,” said Wendy Doyle, President & CEO of United WE. “For 35 years, United WE has worked to advance women’s economic leadership, and Brittany Mahomes exemplifies that leadership in action. As an entrepreneur, investor, co-owner of the Kansas City Current, and mother, she expands opportunity across industries. Leaders like Brittany are exactly who the Champions for Change Award was created to recognize.”
Brittany Mahomes will be honored for the lasting economic and cultural impact she has made in Kansas City and beyond through her leadership, entrepreneurship, and investment in women’s professional sports. An entrepreneur, investor, athlete, mother of three, and co-owner of the Kansas City Current, Brittany has helped elevate women’s sports as both a cultural force and a growing economic engine — including through investment in the first stadium purpose-built for a women’s professional team. Through the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, she and her husband, Patrick Mahomes, have contributed millions to initiatives advancing children’s health, wellness, and opportunity in underserved communities.
Named to the NWSL Advisory Board, a first-of-its-kind initiative shaping the future of the women’s game, and inducted this year into the University of Texas at Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame, Brittany continues to leverage her platform to expand opportunity across industries and generations. Her recent national visibility — including a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover feature, where she spoke about modeling confidence and ambition for mothers — underscores how cultural influence can shape economic narratives about women’s leadership and potential. Brittany’s leadership demonstrates that when women are visible, invested, and at the decision-making table, communities and economies grow stronger.
Hosted at the first stadium in the world built specifically for a women’s professional sports team — United WE’s 2026 Champions for Change will celebrate the organization’s three decades of advancing women’s economic and civic leadership. From expanding access to child care and breaking down licensing barriers to empowering hundreds of women to serve on local boards and commissions, United WE advances solutions across policy and practice. Its “Research. Solutions. Results.” model translates evidence into systemic change—removing barriers to women’s labor force participation and strengthening the overall economy.
The full lineup of speakers and event chairs will be announced soon.
United WE invites all civic leaders, policymakers, business executives, philanthropists, community changemakers, media, entrepreneurs, and corporate leaders to celebrate, connect, and champion.
