Hinkle Law + United WE Salon Coffee and Art Gathering in Wichita, Kansas
The Purpose
On the 11th of September, United WE and Hinkle Law Firm presented a salon gathering celebrating and discussing impact made by women.
Power networking preceeded welcoming remarks by Wichita Mayor Lily Wu and Hinkle Law Firm Attorney Melissa Moodie. United WE President & CEO Wendy Doyle delivered a briefing on new policy impacting women in Kansas before engaging the author of Swiftynomics, Dr. Misty Heggeness, in a conversation covering several themes from her book: caregiving, reinvention, and universal childcare. A private curatorial tour of the Wichita Art Museum's exhibition, Abstract Expressionists: The Women, followed.
The morning was full of camaraderie, laughter, constructive thought, and idea-sharing.
“I am grateful to be in your community and experience special events like yesterday”
The Food, Florals, and Photography
Guests arrived to coffee and pastries by Adelitas Coffee Co. and floral designs by Free State Flora—two intentionally-selected, woman-owned businesses based in Wichita. Photographer Samantha Levi of Kansas City captured the morning’s activities.
The Focus
Swiftynomics assesses the complex economic lives of American women. Drawing insights from pathbreakers like Taylor Swift, Misty Heggeness digs into the data revealing women’s hidden contributions and aspirations—the unexamined value they create by following their own ambitions. She confronts misconceptions about the roles women play in today’s economy by highlighting the abundance of productive activity occurring in their daily lives and acknowledging the barriers they still face.
A Message from the Museum
Wichita Art Museum would like to thank guests for touring Abstract Expressionists: The Women with Curator Dr. Tera Lee Hedrick. Featuring more than 40 canvases made by 30 women, this exhibition brings some of the most important women artists of any century—such as Grace Hartigan and Helen Frankenthaler—to Wichita. The museum is delighted to be the first venue in the United States to host this groundbreaking exhibition.
“It was a wonderful event, and I’ve heard such kind and positive feedback from those in attendance! The Hinkle team is grateful to have hosted such a powerful event. Thank you for entrusting us to bring this to life. Looking forward to continuing the partnership.”
